PASSED: Improving public safety in the aftermath of Daunte Wright

As a result of Daunte’s death, I carried and passed bi-partisan legislation allowing sign and release warrants that would have prevented Daunte from an unnecessary arrest and altercation with former officer Potter. When an officer has encountered an individual with an active warrant for a non-domestic violence related misdemeanor, that officer is only permitted to provide the individual with a sign and release warrant indicating a new court date rather than perform an arrest. Sign and release warrant allows officers to focus on more urgent calls. As policymakers, we will continue to do our part to make sure policies are improved and do not prevent people - uniformed or not, from going home to their families.

PASSED: Increase mental health access and providers

With increasing mental health needs and a lack of access to providers, I worked to pass a large bi-partisan bill that provides additional loan forgiveness and eliminates a huge barrier for the next mental health professionals from becoming licensed.

PASSED: Frontline workers pay

I brought more money back to the hands of our workers, particularly essential workers, during the pandemic. Frontline workers in healthcare, first responders, food service, retail, childcare, retail, education and more can apply to get $750 bonus checks.

PASSED: Lowering costs for families

A priority of mine is making sure we provide economic relief to families. I passed a childcare tax credit and renter’s credit refund program, lowering costs for hard-working Minnesota families who made this economic growth possible.
